Hello again! It's Amanda from First Grade Garden here with you today. I've got a simple little project that will save you a little bit of time throughout the year. I think it's never too early to start thinking about next year!
Fortunately for me, I was off school all of last year on maternity leave with my baby girl. I will be going back to work in September though and I have been busy getting stuff prepared and organized so that I won't have to spend as much time after school getting things ready. Of course I will still work on blogging and TpT stuff after she has gone to bed, but I want to be able to maximize my time with her when I can! :)
One way I can save myself a bit of time is to prepare my birthday treats for my class. I just gather all my supplies (from The Dollar Tree of course!) and spend an hour or so putting them all together. This year my kiddos get a birthday blower, some birthday stickers, a mini pinball game, and a sucker! Pencils are also a great idea to include. I didn't put one in mine because my principal always comes around with his guitar to sing to the students and he gives them a pencil. It's super cute!
Keep the bags in a basket, box, or bag. Then all you have to do on the day of the birthday is remember to pull one out and give it to the birthday student! I make a few extras because I *always* have students move in or out during the school year.
I made some cute tags to staple to the top with my name already on it so they are ready to go!
I keep a few birthday books in my tub as well and let the birthday boy or girl choose one for me to read aloud in the morning. Here are some of my favourite birthday books:
You can download these editable birthday tags for free from {here} or by clicking the picture below. It is a PowerPoint document. You can change the font type and size to make it fit your name!
Come stop by my blog for more freebies and ideas. See you next time!
Great tip! I prepare birthday gifts in advance too. My kiddos always love those swirly straws that you can find in packs of about 8 for a $1 in the Wal-Mart party section.
